More "Throttlegate" News

It seems that everytime I turn around. I am hearing more and more about the problems at Toyota. I really few for this once mighty giant. For the love of all the cream cheese in the world, Ford sold more in January than Toyota did.
This brings me to tonights piece. Does Toyota deserve this?. Even with their reputation for quality?. SOund off. I will be back soon to blog more.

Ford turns a $2.7 Billion Dollar Profit

Well tickle me till I squeal like a school girl. This is pretty exciting news. It is nice to see a profit coming from one of the Big Three. I mean how long before GM and Chrysler turn their own profits?. I will make the guess that it will be sooner than we think.

After doing a little research though, I have discovered a lot of this profit comes from other sources than just car sales. Hey but profit is profit. Atleast my Mustang dream will remain possible for the next few years. This past year has been tough on the auto industry, and it is nice to see a glimmer of light eminating from the embattled Detroit automakers.

This brings me to tonight point. Deep thoughts, with Steve. Why do so many people champion the destruction of rival car companies?. I was on Blue Oval News (http://www.blueovalnews.com/) and a poster made a comment about hoping Chrysler would fail. Now this poster is pretty level headed, and not a bad guy from what I gather, but to wish destruction on a company in these economic times seems a bit unfair. What do you guys think?. If anyone is reading this, sound off in the comments. Well that is all from today,

The Toyota Accelerator Pedal Recall

So, another day another Toyota recall. I cannot believe in this day and age, we didn't see this coming. There is no explanation of the issue, just a recall and a stop on the production of 50% of the Toyota models on sale. I would like to know what is causing the problem. Toyota will never tell, even if asked, so maybe this is the best we can expect.

Wouldn't it be nice if car companies got together and worked on projects? (I am looking at you NUMMI). Or maybe if people liked car companies for there vehicles and not the image. I mean, really, as a Ford guy there is no point in discussing Fords's with a Chev guy, and I am pretty sure it goes the other way as well. Now as the angry Chevy guys go stuff another 350 into something, I will make some point here. In the next paragraph...

Here we go. What the hell is with all the fanboyism going on?. I have been gracing a few forums about Mustangs, being that I am trying to buy one, and have seen people happy about this failure of Toyota's product line. This just saddens me. I admit I am a Ford guy, but I have a buddy named Brian who works at a Toyota plant, and now he is being sent home for the next week while the plant is idled to solve this issue. He has 4 kids and cannot afford to lose the time. I feel for him and his family, and you should too. I think we should all hope this issue get resolved before someone else dies a fiery death. Lets all hope Toyota gets this solved quickly, then all the fan boys can go back to the appliance jokes or the Rustang remarks. Man, the internet should have a required intelligence level. Don't even get me started on the word "Epic".

This all leads to my next point, do you think that they should make "Unintended Acceleration Emergency Training" Training(?) part of Drivers Training. You know, what you should do, how to stop a car if the situation arises. I do. Comment if you like. Also I urge people with driving age children, make sure you go over this with them. It could save there lives.

Welcome to the Mustang Buck-A-Roo

Hello,

In case you haven't read the "About Me", my name is Steve. I decided to start this blog as an attempt to document my journey to owning a Ford Mustang. I will detail a few things here so you can all understand why I have chosen to do this.

I have never owned a new car. In fact, I am not sure what I drive now can be considered a car. I am an avid Ford enthusiast, especially the Mustang. I always figured I would have time to save and buy one, but a few years ago my life changed quite drastically.

My step-father, Keith, was diagnosed with bowel cancer. He is the single most influential force behind my love of cars, and I love him very much. From the very get go, his prognosis was bad. After chemo therapy, radiation treatments, and one Ostomy later, he survived. The odds were against him, but he survived.

That brings me to this blog. I work in the Social Service sector, so I make little money. I have always figured I would save for ten to fifteen years for this car, but since Keith's cancer scare I have begun to realize how limited a life can be. So here I am now with an idea. A cleverly named idea I might add. In an attempt to accelerate the process of purchasing this Mustang, I am turning to the Ford enthusiasts of the interweb. I am sending out a rally cry to everyone and anyone who would like to help. I need to raise about $40,000 Canadian for this project. This is a lot of money. In steps the "Mustang Buck-A-Roo".

The idea behind it is this. If I can get people to donate $1 at a time, I would need 40,000 donations. You can see where this is going. If you can donate $1 that is fantastic, if you can donate $10... holy cow. If someone wants to give the entire $40,000 I am okay with that as well. I too will be adding money, infact I now have exactly $1 added.

So I am asking the Mustang community for a helping hand in this. If you can "Pony Up" (hahah I kill me), it would be so very appreciated. In return for your donations, I will offer you my uneducated opinions on a variety of topics I do not understand. If you have an idea for me to cover, send it my way. I will also post pictures and car related material.

In conclusion, thanks for all the help you can give, even just the support of kind words would be great. I look forward to updating you with my journey.

Peace from the Great White North,

Steve
